Umpiring

A person must be turning 12 that year to be eligible to undertake the HDNA Basic Umpires Course and commence umpiring at the Association.

Hinterland District Netball Association rules are that Clubs must supply umpires for all of their Saturday teams.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO UMPIRE?

Without an umpire, there is no game.

Umpiring is great to learn –  it can be challenging at times but is far more often rewarding. It is particularly good for players to see “the other side of the game”, it can help with their playing ability, can build confidence and the umpires are paid.

BASIC UMPIRES COURSE INFORMATION

Keep your eye out for the email regarding the Basic Umpires Course.

This is free to attend and is held at the HDNA or Somerset College (usually on a Sunday).  You cannot start to umpire until you attend this course and it may only be held once a year. If you are interested in learning the basics of netball umpiring from the grass roots level, this course is for you.

At this course you will learn all about an umpire’s role, an umpire’s duties and responsibilities, gain a good understanding of basic netball rules and some practical on court umpiring experience – all with an element of FUN!

RULES OF NETBALL THEORY

The online Rules of Netball Theory exam tests the basic rules of the game and a 70% pass is needed in order to start umpiring.  For more information on this exam please click here.  This exam must be completed before attending the Basic Introduction course.  The cost is $12.50 payable by the umpire.
